Dunlop Manufacturing, Inc.,cunoscuta si sub numele de Jim Dunlop,
este un cunoscut producator american de efecte de chitara si accesorii pentru
chitara. . Compania este renumita pentru fabricarea pedalelor de efecte de chitara
wah-wah, cunoscute sub numele de Dunlop Cry Baby. O pedala wah-wah este
un efect de chitara care modifica tonul creand un efect distinctiv al
sunetului,care imita vocea umana. Pedala Dunlop Cry Baby este cea mai vanduta
pedala de efecte de chitara pe plan mondial, majoritatea chitaristilor celebri
folosind acest efect. Dunlop a creat de fapt mai multe modele ale acestei
pedale, inspirandu-se din tonul unor mari chitaristi : Jimi Hendrix,
Dimebag Darrel, Slash, Zakk Wylde.
Alte efecte celebre produse de Dunlop sunt Talk-Box is Fuzz Face si Uni
Vibe.
De asemenea, Dunlop este cunoscut pentru o serie de accesorii de chitara
profesionale, slide-uri, capodastre si pene. O mentiune aparte pentru penele
de chitara produse din Delrin (material plastic inventat de catre DuPont), sub
marca Tortex. Aceste pene imitand textura carapacei de testoasa, material din care se
fabricau penele de chitara pana la sfarsitul anilor 70 cand comertul cu
carapace de testoase a fost interzis.
Firma Dunlop s-a dezvoltat si prin achizitia altor companii ca Rockman si
MXR.
MXR, cunoscuta si ca MXR Innovations, este un producator de efecte de chitara fondat in
anul 1972 si cunoscut in special pentru pedala de efecte Phase 90, facuta
celebra de catre Eddie Van Halen, care a folosita la primele lui albume.
Astazi,
gama de efecte MXR este foarte bogata, incluzand pedale populare care EVH
Flanger, Wylde Distortion, Dime Distortion, Kerry King Equalizer si Carbon Copy
Analog Delay.
Din
anul 2008 produsele Jim Dunlop sunt importate in Romania de catre ProGuitar.

David Gilmour of Pink Floyd
has used the Classic Cry-Baby Wah-Wah Pedal on many songs on several albums,
most notably "Stay" on the album Obscured by Clouds.
- Stevie Ray Vaughan used a Crybaby wah-wah pedal
on some of his songs, though he may have also used a Vox wah as well, given his
heavy use of elements that contributed to Jimi Hendrix's tone.

Mick Ronson (David Bowie's
guitarist during the classic early 70's era) is said to have achieved his
distinctive sound by playing a Gibson Les Paul through a Crybaby - the only
effects pedal he used much of the time during this period.

Classic, modified for increased treble, which can be heard on tracks such as

effects. He has been associated with the Crybaby Classic, and in 2006, his

- Tom Morello is noted for his extensive use of effects
pedals including the wah pedal; He has said that the Crybaby that he uses on
stage was manufactured sometime during the 1980s. It can be heard on 'Bulls On
Parade' from the album 'Evil Empire'. His Crybaby is possibly unique in that
its sweep remains within the mid-ranges, as he has said that he has multiple
Crybabies, and none of the others sound like the one that he uses.

Crybaby models, along with the Ibanez WH-10 wah, with which he is often
associated - He has been attributed to the Dimebag Darrell Crybaby From Hell
model, which he used on the Stadium Arcadium album. can be heard on songs
'She's Only 18', 'Hey' and the solo on 'Dani California'.
- Steve Vai used a Dunlop Crybaby in "The Audience is
Listening" and in many of his other songs. He used a modified Crybaby as
his main wah, until his Morley endorsement. He now uses the Bad Horsie 1 and a
modified Crybaby 95Q on stage.
